Diaries and Papers, 1825-1918.

The collection contains Fletcher's diaries (1863-1901); diaries of her daughters Sarah Hill Fletcher Wagner (1863-1877) and Emily Fletcher (1866-1888); and Calvin Fletcher Jr.'s diaries while a young man (1847-1849); also Sarah's travel diary while in Europe (1874); Emily's notebook in French (1875-1876), and her poetry notebook (1883-1888). It also includes loose materials removed from the diaries including personal letters, poems, school-related work, newspaper clippings, and miscellaneous personal items. Also contained is the correspondence of Calvin Fletcher, Jr. (185,7-1901), Emily Beeler Fletcher (1877; 1907), Emily Fletcher (1886-1910), Sarah Fletcher Wagner (1862-1918), and Theodore Wagner (1898-1902). Included are four folders of Sarah's correspondence to her fiance Willard W. Hodge (1875-1878). Most of the diaries are also held on two reels of microfilm, and stories Calvin Fletcher Jr. wrote for his grandchildren (1862-1901) are on microfilm only.

Emily Beeler Fletcher (1828-1910) was the wife of Indianapolis farmer and businessman Calvin Fletcher Jr. During the Civil War she worked as a nurse in hospitals in Nashville and Murfreesboro. She was one of the founders of the Home for Aged Women in Indianapolis.
